God’s desire is that His Word is promoted in the earth and He depends on His people, the called, the chosen, the set-apart, to do just that. When we recognize that our gifts, talents, and abilities are God-breathed and Holy Spirit inspired, to want to honor Him with them is second nature. He will show a willing vessel in what way He wants you to use your gifts and platform to glorify Him and promote His Word. Spending time at His feet, in prayer, and reading His Word helps us grow in Him. Becoming intimately acquainted with Him will lead to a trained ear and open heart ready to hear and receive an abundance of guidance and direction straight from the Father, the source of our supply.
The Word of God tells us that those who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing (Psalm 34:10). When we seek Him with all our heart and mind, we will reap a harvest and receive every good thing He has for us. As we put Him first place in our endeavors and seek to glorify Him with our gifts, we will reap all the good He purposes for us in our businesses. When we seek to promote Him with our gifts and not ourselves, we will automatically reap a harvest.
There were times when I felt stuck, not knowing what I was supposed to do with my gift because my greatest desire is to serve Him through it. I didn’t want my talent to be just about me, making money or impressing people. I wanted it to be about more, to mean more, to more than only me. There have been times where I’ve felt like I wasn’t doing enough to honor Him through my gift. I felt that I wasn’t making an impact and no one was being helped or truly benefiting from it. Soon I realized that my focus was too much on me and not enough on Him. He reminded me of the following scripture passage:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5,6).
In meditating upon this scripture, I realized that it is not on me to seek out my own path or to figure out how I can serve Him. I am not supposed to look for things to do to feel like I am serving Him. In seeking to use my gift for His glory, the Father did not want me to be busy being a human doing but to be still and be a human being. It was in stillness and acknowledgment of Him that I was directed and shown exactly what He wanted me to do with my gift, who He wanted me to pour into, how He wanted me to sow. When I stopped trying to understand or find my purpose, my heart became open and receptive to His leading and He showed me in what way He wanted me to utilize my gift. Now I am full because He filled me with purpose and clear direction and I no longer must try or wonder or figure out the how. He is the Divine Artist, the original Creator, and I had to learn to allow Him to paint His purposes on my heart. He put a strong desire in me to use my talents for His glory so I know He will complete that work in as I continue to surrender and allow Him to be my guide.
My gifts for His glory,
